3 Months Old

Three months old!

Wow - you are a growing girl.

At Three Months you are...
  • Rolling like a pro from your belly to your back and TRYING so hard to go from your back to your belly, you are almost there!
  • All smiles
  • You know you can "cry" and we will appear at your crib or at your side and then you give us this big grin, you little stinker.
  • You took your first trip! You and mommy drove to Ohio to meet Katie and Scott and attend Baby Paige's baby shower.
  • On Monday you will be going to the sitter now that Winter Break is over.
  • You are probably between 13 - 14 pounds (no doctor visit this month).
  • You love to kick and play on your play mat.
  • You are doing sit-ups with our help in our laps.
  • You can sit in your Bumbo chair.
  • You celebrated your first Christmas (Santa was VERY good to you).
  • You are still the highlight of our days.

Pajama Party

On Monday we headed over to Brady and Cooper's (The Day's) for the first official day of Winter Break pajama party. It was fun to get the Parkwood babies together and just hang out in our jammies all morning, make crafts, and enjoy great food!

Madeline crashed after breakfast.

All of the other kids played.

Kaidyn liked the train table.

Ellie watched some cartoons.

Sabrina held a baby (her favorite thing to do).

I grabbed this picture of Jill because she always takes so many pictures I wanted a picture of her! (And look, a camera in her hands, haha)

Ellie holding Camryn, Ashtyn holding Madeline, and Brady holding Cooper.

Babies! (And a few moms)

Happy baby!

Best buds!

Making Cookies

On Sunday Daddy went to the Colts game in Indy so Mommy and Maddie hung out with Grandma and Grandpa all day. We watched the Colts game, the Hoosiers game, made cookies (White Family Tradition) and ate dinner. It was a very relaxing day. Turner was very excited about this day because he got to go in the car and hang out with grandma and grandpa too. He was enjoying all of the extra head and belly rubs from the grandparents (you'd think we had abandoned him or something)

Grandma Janice prepping the dough.

Madeline helping Mommy make a wreath cookie (my favorite cookie cutter, because it always leaves an extra bit in the middle that I sneak and eat).

The girls!

Baked and ready to be iced.

Finished!

Better shot of the stockings, I iced these specially!

Cousins!

Today was another Snow Day for me so I got to enjoy the day with Miss Madeline, however I know I will be upset when these come back to haunt us in June (side note - already have one called for tomorrow so it's an early start to Christmas break for the GCCS kids).

We watched Maddie's cousin Emma for a few hours and Maddie just loved to watch Emma move all over. Emma loves talking to Madeline and can't wait for her to be big enough to play with her.

They love each other already!

Bumbo

Someone tried out her Bumbo seat for the first time this weekend. Daddy tried her in it on Thursday and it didn't go so well, but after that she started trying to pull herself up with our hands and do sit-ups on our laps. So we tried the Bumbo seat again on Sunday and she enjoyed it much more this time around.

Pancakes with Santa

This past Saturday we took Madeline to Pancakes with Santa at the assisted living facility we just moved my grandpa into. There were a lot of families there and I think it made Great-Grandpa Charlie's day to show off his baby. This was Maddie's first time getting to meet one of Santa's helpers, and she did a really good job, no fussing at all (I realize this will not be so true in the future)! I hope to get her to meet another of his helper's soon.

Relaxing at breakfast.

Smile Grandpa!

Ready to meet Santa!

Tell him what you want for Christmas.

Family shot.

The "Turner & Madeline" relationship

Turner has a "love-hate" relationship with Maddie. He loves to know what she's doing and wants to be involved but he hates that he is not our #1 anymore. If we are playing with her on the floor he has to be RIGHT there.

Anything that is hers, he has to figure out a way to use also.

He also GREATLY enjoys pacifiers, the little thief! He has eaten 3. He also enjoys burp cloths, he has destroyed one, and slightly mangled another.

2 Months Old

Miss Maddie you are two months old! WOW! How does time fly so quickly?
  • You weigh 12.2 pounds.
  • You are still about 22 1/2 inches long.
  • You are still (thankfully) sleeping through the night (Side note - you are now being transitioned into your crib).
  • You are becoming much more playful, we get these fabulous smiles out of you which makes us smile, and then you smile even more.
  • You are eating 6ozs of formula (when you get a bottle), and you eat between 5 and 6 times a day.
  • You still love to get a bath.
  • You love when mommy sings to you and plays with your legs.
  • You try to talk back to us, you say "Guh" a lot, and we say it back to you.
  • You received 2 shots at the doctor's office this month. You did NOT like this.
  • You spent the last week with Grandpa Jeff because Mommy went back to work, next week you will be spending your days with Daddy, and the week after that Grandma Janice gets to enjoy you. Mommy misses you all day, but knows you are being very well taken care of :-).

Adventures in the Swaddle Me

I know I have previously posted that Madeline is known to occasionally "escape" from the Swaddle Me, we're talking usually an arm or hand. On Monday, sadly also the day I returned to work, I went in to grab her from her afternoon nap and found this:

She had somehow gotten her legs free as well! (I think Daddy doesn't get the swaddle as tight as Mommy... but that's just my opinion).

On Wednesday morning I woke up and discovered her in this position:

She had moved all the way under the changing table of the Pack-n-Play, smushed herself in one corner, and had begun to climb the wall! Her legs were completely bent! I don't know when she does all of this moving, but this girl sure can travel.

Black Friday

This year I chose not to head out into the Black Friday madness after Thanksgiving, I bought the one thing I was looking for Wednesday and had it price adjusted Friday afternoon (much easier, I would suggest this to anyone in the future).

We spent this day prepping the house for Christmas. Here are a few shots of Maddie's first decorating experience:

Madeline and the stockings.

The "before" picture.

The "during" shot.

The "after" picture.

Our Christmas village.

All this decorating just wore her out!

Madeline's tree in her room (a.k.a the mini-tree I bought last year to house all of my Barbie ornaments) and her "Baby's First Christmas" stocking.

Happy Thanksgiving!

We spent the holiday visiting with family. In the morning we headed over to Brad's grandmother's house to enjoy lunch with his family, and in the evening we headed to my parents' house for dinner. Lots of delicious food and one happy baby.

Funny story about this "family" shot. My mom wanted to take a picture of the 3 of us, and Turner was sitting up on the cushions looking out the window. As soon as she got into position to take a picture he jumped down to get into the shot, it was like he was saying "Not without me!"

Bath Time

Our little girl LOVES her bath. She could be screaming at the top of her lungs and the minute you put her in her tub she is ALL smiles. She usually drapes one of her legs over the netting and lets it rest in the warm water. I can't wait to get her in the pool next summer!

Bath time is a definite part of our nightly routine. Around 9:30 or 9:45 she gets a bath, wraps up and cuddles in a towel, lotions up, eats for the last time, and then we read a book. Finally, we swaddle her up and she is out until around 7 or 8.

Our little bathing beauty :-)

Houdini?!

Madeline LOVES to be swaddled when she sleeps. However, Brad and I have recently been finding her in the early signs of becoming the next great escape artist. Check out the arm that has made it's way out of the tight Swaddle Me.

I would also like to point out that when we lay her down, she is 100% horizontal and laying in the middle of the Pac-n-Play (she naps in her crib, but she is still sleeping through the night in our room). She also scoots when she sleeps. Twice we have flipped on the light, looked into the Pac-n-Play, and uttered the phrase "Where is she?!" Only to look under the changing table attachment to find where she is hiding (no worries, it CAN'T smother her by any means). What a little mover!!

Halloween

We really didn't Trick-or-Treat this year, but we did have have Maddie in costume, she went as a little Love Bug. We went and visited some of the neighbors for the first time and then Miss Madeline helped us pass out candy at the house. When we ran out, we went and helped out at Grandma and Grandpa's house.

Mommy took a turn.
